Are you disenchanted with the corporate life, wanting to do your own thing, but WHAT NOW?

In a previous post, I have highlighted 3 factors to consider before making the decision to take the leap and start your dream business. Even if you are ready to take it further, you might still feel overwhelmed and stuck, not knowing WHERE TO NOW?

In my experience, I always found it helpful to TALK TO SOMEONE, someone where I can share my ‘crazy’ ideas without judgment, someone who creates a safe space whilst challenging my thinking and adding new perspectives. But making a bold move like this, I would also want someone who will be my biggest champion, who not only believes in me as a person, but who also believes in my dream and whose only agenda is my success. I would also need that person to help me stay on track to meet my goals and milestones. Lastly, imagine that person could also inspire me because he/she has taken the leap from corporate themselves and made a success thereof.

My Master’s research indicated that start-up business owners who chose a coach as their go-to person needed the coach TO BE someone:

o With no hidden agendas, whom they described as a ‘COACH’
o Who will be a SOUNDING BOARD and thinking partner
o Who will be their ENCOURAGER
o Who will be their ACCOUNTABILITY PARTNER
o Who serves as a ROLE MODEL

The research also revealed that the VALUE that the early-stage business owners got from coaching, were as follows:

o Not only did they gain CLARITY about the viability of their ideas, their business vision and strategy, but also about their identity as a business person and how to attain work-life balance.
o Coaching leads to increased levels of CONFIDENCE and SELF-BELIEF in their ability to successfully start and run a business.
o As a result, the business owners were able to make DECISIONS quickly and confidently which in turn expedited the entrepreneurial process.
o At the end of their coaching journey, the business owners were ENABLED and EMPOWERED to continue without the support of their coach. They gained the autonomy they were seeking and became self-reliant.

I believe we all have something unique to offer and that we deserve the chance to do what is true, meaningful and extraordinary for us; doing something that we are passionate about. If you want to turn your dream into reality, I would suggest that you do what I did, reach out to a coach. As mentioned before, I have walked this path myself and to get a sense of how I in turn can help you, please visit my website for more details or reach out to me by completing the contact form.

Are you ready to take the next step?
