I’d like to share with you why I feel it is crucial to know your Core Values.

Even though topics like Core Values are covered in Life Orientation (CAPS), we know that it’s probably been skimmed over. But imagine the impact it could have if our school leavers actively embraced and integrated these values into their identity as individuals.

Let’s take a moment to understand what values are and why they are so important. 💡

Values are foundational beliefs that anchor our lives, and they are different and unique to each person. They serve as a compass, guiding us in the direction we want our lives to go.

Understanding their core values can provide your child with clarity, direction, and purpose, especially as they navigate the important transition from matric to life beyond. By aligning their career choices with their core values, they can make decisions that resonate with who they are at heart. 💼❤️

Furthermore, understanding their core values helps your child to set healthy boundaries, safeguarding what matters most to them. By honoring their values, they can confidently say no to situations or relationships that do not align with their principles. They are empowered to make choices congruent with who they are and what they stand for amidst life’s distractions and pressures.

In closing, keep in mind that strengths are HOW we do things, and values are WHY we do them. Understanding our values keeps our motivation alive and gives our actions purpose.
